Historically, ISO has applied to the manufacturing sector.  However, other industries are embracing ISO standards as a way to improve quality and ensure consistency in the products and services they deliver.

ISO is voluntary.  Businesses that choose to seek ISO certification must go through a rigorous process of self-examination.
