Introduction

Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio and Indiana collectively form the largest, most successful administrator of group dental benefit programs in the Midwest. Delta Dental believes it is important to support initiatives that benefit the communities in which we do business, as well as projects that help us achieve our corporate purpose of advancing and promoting the improvement of oral health.

Each year Delta Dental provides financial support, in the form of contributions, to various local and state organizations.

Contribution Guidelines

In considering contributions, Delta Dental evaluates each application on its own merits. It considers the program in which the organization is engaged, the constituencies it serves, the services it offers, its accountability and its fund-raising practices.

To make it possible to regularly consider new requests, Delta Dental’s policy is to avoid making multi-year commitments to specific organizations. Exceptions may be made when a request states that the contribution will be used over a period of years. However, in no case will a multi-year commitment be made for more than three years.

Contributions are made in three major areas health and human enrichment, civic and community affairs, and special requests.

I. Health and Human Enrichment

Delta Dental provides support to selected agencies and institutions working in the health and human services fields, including organizations serving children, seniors, low-income individuals, minorities, the disabled and at-risk individuals.

II. Civic and Community Affairs

Support is also provided to organizations that promote education, arts and recreation and community development. In this category, Delta Dental supports organizations whose goals are determined to best meet the needs of their local communities.

III. Special Requests

Delta Dental provides support to charitable projects or programs recommended by employees, customers, participating dentists and other key groups. Careful consideration is given to each request. Each request is reviewed in terms of its general eligibility and conformity with Delta Dental’s guidelines, the available funds, the amount needed to achieve the desired results and program priority.

Limitations

Contributions are not awarded to organizations outside of Michigan, Ohio or Indiana, or for the following:

  • Individuals;

  • Organizations that discriminate by race, religion, color, creed, gender, age, or national origin;
