Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, Delta Dental partner on drive-thru drug take-back event
Okemos, Michigan—In advance of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Oct. 24, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office and Delta Dental are partnering to take back unused prescription medication from the community 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29.
Controlled substances including pain relievers, antidepressants, sleep aids, behavior modification medicine, pet medications and cough medicine will be accepted during the event, no questions asked. Anyone dropping off medications should black out or remove personal information from the packaging.
Prescription drug abuse has increased among youth over the past decade, and around 80% of people who misuse prescription drugs get medication from family members and friends, according to the Ingham County Health Department.
In 2025, people in 67 vehicles dropped off medication totaling more than 120 pounds.
